Grant's 1st Pinewood Derby was January 9th 2010! Grant had long awaited this day. He first learned about Pinewood Derby when I was a Wolf leader, he was 6 at the time and could not wait for his moment of glory. Well I guess we waited until the last minute to finish his car even though he had been reminding us frequently! So the tension was high and then the wheel broke off the car and a chunk of wood came with it and it seemed unfixable. So Dad was upset. Grant was upset. They had even decided not to go to the Derby. After the drama died down a bit they went ahead and went, hoping there would be someone there or something there to help them fix the car so it could race. If not I told Grant he should at least go to watch and support his friends. Grant did race his car and he felt bad again because he did not "win". This was a good opportunity to really teach good sportsmanship. He was upset until the awards were handed out and he got a showmanship award and a Mr. Goodbar which made him feel a lot better. He also raced the winner after the race and beat him that made him feel better too. I think he may have set his car on the track wrong? Hopefully next year will be less drama and more fun. I promise we wont procrastinate either.

The lineup Grant's car is the red one on the end.

His Award and Mr. Goodbar! Happy!

Grant's word bubble: I did not win. I don't want to pose for a picture.
